Our Pastor

Rev. Samuel J. Thompson

Samuel J. Thompson is Pastor of the Christian Fellowship of Love Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. He is a dynamic and inspirational Gospel preacher. His Bible-based powerful sermons directed towards "reaching the lost and teaching the saved to serve" combine to make him an enthusiastic servant of the Lord. He is a dedicated Christian committed to "growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." In serving God's people, Pastor Thompson's ministry, philosophy and life verse can be found in the following passage.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. [1 Cor. 15:58, NIV].

Christian Fellowship of Love Baptist Church ministries is to bring persons into a saving and redemptive relationship as disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a spiritual body whose only foundation is the Word of God. We fulfill our ministry as we proclaim and teach, pray and worship, forgive and reconcile. As we live by Christ's example, we empower others to carry out the command of God. We seek only to be God's servants as agents of healing and wholeness in a wounded and fragmented world.

What We Believe

We believe in an all powerful, all knowing creator God. Who has fashioned His universe, probably in the image of His own heavenly realm.

We believe He then placed humans, made in the image of Himself, to manage this very good universe for Him.

We believe that the pride of humans led them to attempt to usurp God's authority as ruler of the universe, and that in consequence both humans and universe have been corrupted and damaged, and that we are condemned to be destroyed.

We believe that God, in his omniscience, anticipated such rebellion, and had already formed a plan that would evolve through a chosen servant(Abraham), a chosen nation (Israel), a body of Divine Law, a series of Divinely-Controlled tribulations, a message proclaimed by chosen prophets, a personal visit to the earth by God's own Son, His death and resurrection.

We believe that when God had completed His love-act rescuing us, He then ordained us as his witnesses to the entire world, and equipped us to do this task of witness by sending His Holy Spirit among us.

We therefore believe that God requires of us a total stewardship of our personal selves, our time, our gift, and our treasure; Our families and any friends we may influence to join us in His Holy work;

We believe that he wants to use us in the sanctuary and in the market-place, to preach conversion and civic justice, as church members and as professionals or students or homemakers, as total servants bringing a total message to the human condition.

We believe that we are privileged to be partners with God in the rosemary of the damaged human race and bruised universe.
